Plagiarism Policy
Guidelines, definitions, and actions regarding plagiarism and publication misconduct for Explore.
Definition of Plagiarism
The Editorial Team of EXPLORE (EXP) acknowledges that plagiarism is unacceptable. Plagiarism is defined as an intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or trying to obtain credit or value for scientific work by quoting part or all of another party's work recognized as scientific, without expressing the source appropriately and adequately.
Articles must be original, never published, and not currently under consideration elsewhere. Material taken verbally from other sources must be clearly identified to distinguish it from the original text.
Plagiarism Levels and Penalties
If plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the article and applying sanctions in accordance with the detected level of plagiarism:
Level 1: Minor Similarity / Short Sentence Tracing
Tracing a portion of a short sentence from another article without mentioning the source.
Action: Authors are given warnings and requests to change the text and quote correctly.
Level 2: Extensive Tracing
Tracing most of another article without proper quotation and without mentioning the source.
Action: The submitted article is rejected for publication in EXPLORE, and authors may be sanctioned from publishing in the journal.
Additional Guidelines & Joint Responsibility
Joint Responsibility: All article authors are jointly responsible for the content because they signed the Explore Publication Ethics Statement Form. If classified as plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same action.
Simultaneous Submission: If proven that an author simultaneously submitted the manuscript to Explore and another journal (overlap found during review or post-publication), Level 2 sanctions apply.
Discretionary Sanctions: If plagiarism or ethical violations are found outside the rules above, the editor has the full right to issue sanctions according to editorial policy.
